چکیده
A compact planar beamformer using multiple shaped continuous parallel-plate waveguide delay lenses is proposed in this letter. The original design, based on a single-shaped lens, had demonstrated excellent scanning properties over the portion of $K_{a}$ -band allocated to uplink satcom (27.5–31 GHz). However, its height, due transversal ridge and cavity, was limiting use more advanced antenna systems. design methodology here achieve similar focusing while reducing significantly beamformer’s height. specific with height reduced by factor three when compared design. reduction longitudinal dimension also introducing two additional straight ridges cavities. prototype manufactured tested successfully, RF performance those reference besides slightly higher insertion losses. This enables stack produce dimensional (2-D) beamforming.

Discrete and Continuous E-Plane Bends in Parallel-Plate Waveguide
Discrete bends in the propagation direction of plane TEM waves can be achieved utilizing the Brewster angle at a planar interface between media of different uniform isotropic pennittivities. This paper extenda this to cases of multiple dielectric or nonuniform permittivity. The nonuniform case is a generali~tion of the Brewster-angle concept. This is also related to special log-spiral solutions...
متن کاملPlanar micro-optic solar concentration using multiple imaging lenses into a common slab waveguide
Conventional CPV systems focus sunlight directly onto a PV cell, usually through a non-imaging optic to avoid hot spots. In practice, many systems use a shared tracking platform to mount multiple smaller aperture lenses, each concentrating light into an associated PV cell. Scaling this approach to the limit would result in a thin sheet-like geometry. This would be ideal in terms of minimizing t...
متن کاملParallel Construction of Compact Planar Embeddings
The sheer sizes of modern datasets are forcing data-structure designers to consider seriously both parallel construction and compactness. To achieve those goals we need to design a parallel algorithm with good scalability and with low memory consumption. An algorithm with good scalability improves its performance when the number of available cores increases, and an algorithm with low memory con...
متن کاملAchromatic waveguide lenses.
An investigation of the chromatic properties of waveguide lenses is described. In general, the focal length of mode-index and Fresnel zone (diffractive) lenses will be a function of wavelength. As a result, these lenses will have high optical quality over only a relatively small wavelength range. A method is given to correct for this chromatic dispersion by forming a hybrid mode-index/diffracti...
متن کاملObservation of Proximity Resonances in a Parallel-Plate Waveguide
Experiments with dielectric scatterers in a parallel-plate waveguide have verified for the first time the existence of proximity resonances in two dimensions. A numerical solution to the scattering problem supports the analysis of the experimental data. It has recently been shown that two resonant s-wave scatterers placed close together produce two resonances in the spectrum of the combined sys...
